29 February 1940 - Hattie McDaniel won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar (first ever win for an African American actor) for her portrayal of Mammy in Gone with the Wind.
Method: altered photograph of a scene from Gone with the Wind where Mammy is tying Scarlett O'Hara's girdle...instead, Ive removed Scarlett and tied some string around the tenti-girdle.
